Your company’s payroll tax settings live in Settings > Payroll. Company Admins, HR Admins and Owners can use them once your company has finished payroll onboarding. Until then, the page shows Payroll is not set up yet.

Tax settings

Open an item to see its details, update them and select Save.

Local courtesy withholding

If your company has local courtesy withholding, General also lists Local courtesy withholding. Use it to register local tax jurisdictions, such as St. Louis, MO, so payroll withholds their earnings tax for affected employees. Only register a jurisdiction your company has a withholding account to remit to.
  1. Select Add jurisdiction.
  2. Enter a Street address, City, State and ZIP, then select Find jurisdictions.
  3. Choose the jurisdiction from the results and select Register.
Registered jurisdictions are listed on the page. Select Remove to take one off.

Employee taxes

Each employee’s own tax details are on their profile in People, under Job & pay > Taxes. Open Federal taxes or their state tax to see and update them (see All people).

Taxes on a pay run

Every pay run shows its taxes. While you review a run, Employee taxes and Company taxes open a breakdown by tax, and the Company cost and Net pay tabs show each person’s share. A submitted run has a taxes card with Employer taxes and Employee taxes. See Running payroll.

Who signs tax filings

Your authorized signatory signs your payroll tax filings, so keep it up to date. You’ll find it in Settings > Payroll > Authorized signatory (see Payroll settings).
