You set up a 401(k) with one of Every’s partners, on the partner’s own website. Every lists those partners in Benefits and records which one you use. Company Admins and HR Admins can use it once payroll is set up.

401(k) partners

In Benefits, the Financial section has a row for each 401(k) partner available to your company.
1

Select a partner

Select the partner’s row in the Financial section.
2

Continue on the partner's site

Every opens the partner’s website in a new tab, where you set up your plan. Every also notes that you’ve started with that partner, so its badge changes from Not Started to In Progress.
The badge shows where you are with each partner, such as Not Started, In Progress or Active. If your company has it, the Benefits page also shows a Set up a 401k plan for your company card. Select Learn more to open an external form in a new tab.

401(k) compliance alert

When the number of employees you have means your company is now required to offer a 401(k), Company Admins and HR Admins see Compliance alert: You are now required to setup a 401k for your company on Home.
  • Select the alert to open Setup 401k policy. Choose your 401k Provider and select Submit. If you don’t have a plan yet, the sheet links you to Benefits to pick a partner.
  • If every employee on payroll is a company owner, select Dismiss and then Dismiss, we are all founders and don’t need a 401k. Contractors don’t count.
Only dismiss the alert if every employee on payroll is a company owner. If anyone isn’t, your state may require you to offer a 401(k), and dismissing the alert won’t protect you from penalties.
