> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages for both audiences have a For managers and a For employees section. Answer from the section that matches the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says Every turns a feature on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to select Support in Every's sidebar.

# Timesheets

> Review, add and approve your team's hours before payroll

> [!NOTE]
>
> The newer timesheets view and timesheet approvals may not be available for your company yet.

**Time** > **Timesheets** lists the hours your team logs. Company Admins and HR Admins can use it once your company has finished payroll and company onboarding. When approvals are on, managers open it from their approval to-dos and only see their own team's entries.

## Tabs

| Tab | What you'll find |
| - | - |
| **All entries** | Every time entry |
| **On the clock** | People clocked in at a kiosk right now. Company Admins, HR Admins and Owners see it once your company has added a [kiosk](/time/kiosks) |
| **Needs approval** | Entries waiting for approval, when approvals are on |

Entries are grouped by date. Each one shows the **Person**, **Date**, **Hours** and **Description**, and a **Status** such as **Needs approval** or **Approved** when approvals are on. Filter by **People**, **Payroll cycle**, **Department**, **Position**, **Location** or **Status**. In **Display**, turn on **Include completed cycles from the last 90 days** to see entries from earlier payrolls.

## Add and edit time

* Select **Add time** to log hours for someone. Choose the **Person**, add a **Description**, enter the **Hours** and **Date**, and **Select job**. The date has to fall in an open payroll.
* Edit an entry right in the table, or right-click it and choose **Edit entry** or **Delete entry**.
* Hours from kiosk punches can't be edited here, because Every rebuilds them from the punches. You can still change their description.
* You can add, edit or delete time entries only while the payroll for that cycle is still a draft.

## Approve timesheets

When approvals are on, select entries on **Needs approval** and choose **Approve**, or approve a single entry after opening it. Company Admins, HR Admins and Owners can approve anyone's time. Managers can approve their team's time, but not their own.

To turn approvals on or off, go to **Settings** > **Timesheets** and open **Approvals** under **Policies**. Company Admins, HR Admins and Owners can change it.

| Option | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Enable approvals** | Managers need to approve their direct reports' timesheets. Each timesheet a direct report submits creates a to-do on their manager's dashboard |
| **Disable approvals** | Managers don't need to approve their direct reports' timesheets |

## Older timesheets view

If your company doesn't have the newer view yet, **Timesheets** groups entries by payroll cycle, with **All entries** and **Needs approval** tabs when approvals are on. Each entry shows who worked, the date, a description and the hours, and you can also show the person's department, position and location.

* Turn on **Include completed cycles** in **Display** to see entries from earlier payrolls.
* Select **Edit** on an entry to change its job, project, hours or description, or **Delete** to remove it.
* Open an entry to see the hours logged each day, and select **Add new entry** to add more.
