> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# Help center MCP

> Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another AI tool to the help center, and ask it how to do things in Every

![Every Help Docs search card with a query and two page results.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/UdF6vL-Y2aqHwbZb/images/illustrations/help-center-mcp-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=UdF6vL-Y2aqHwbZb\&q=85\&s=d96ad9ad2f87203a4e8e31d8e0585ea3)

The help center's MCP server, at `https://every.help/mcp`, lets your AI tool search and read these pages. Connect it, then ask your AI tool how to do something in Every.

Anyone can connect it, with no Every account, sign-in or token. It reads only what the help center publishes, including the API reference. It can't see your company's data or change anything in Every.

## Connect your AI tool

Choose your tool.

**Claude**

Custom connectors work in Claude on the web and in Claude Desktop. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner of your Claude organization adds the connector in Organization settings → Connectors, and you select "Connect" on it in Customize → Connectors. On a Pro or Max plan, add it yourself:

**1. Open Connectors**

In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors.

**2. Add a custom connector**

Select "+ Add", then "Add custom connector".

**3. Enter the server**

Enter a name, such as Every Help Docs, and `https://every.help/mcp` as the server URL. Select "Continue".

**4. Check the authentication**

Review the authentication settings Claude found, then select "Continue".

**5. Choose no sign-in**

Under "Authentication", choose "No sign in", then select "Add".

To use it, in a conversation's chat box, select "+", then "Connectors", and turn the connector on.

**ChatGPT**

ChatGPT adds custom MCP servers on the web. Your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings decide whether you can add one (see OpenAI's [Connecting custom MCP servers in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-connecting-custom-mcp-servers-in-chatgpt)).

**1. Open Plugins**

In ChatGPT, go to Plugins.

**2. Add a custom MCP server**

Select the plus button, then "Add custom MCP server".

**3. Enter the server**

Enter a name, such as Every Help Docs. Under "Connection", enter `https://every.help/mcp`.

**4. Set up authentication**

Configure the server's authentication. The help center needs none.

**5. Create the plugin**

Review the risk warning, select "I understand and want to continue", then select "Create as a plugin".

**6. Install the plugin**

Install the plugin you created.

To use it in a new conversation, type `@` in the chat box and select the plugin by the name you gave it.

**Claude Code**

In your terminal, run:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user every-help https://every.help/mcp
```

The help center is then available in all your projects. To check the connection, run `claude mcp get every-help`, which shows it as connected.

**Cursor**

**1. Open the configuration**

Open `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, or create it. For one project only, use `.cursor/mcp.json` in that project.

**2. Add the help center**

Add the `every-help` entry inside `mcpServers`, keeping any servers already there:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "every-help": {
      "url": "https://every.help/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

**3. Save the configuration**

Save the file.

**VS Code**

**1. Open the configuration**

In the Command Palette, run "MCP: Open User Configuration".

**2. Add the help center**

Add the `every-help` entry inside `servers`, keeping any servers already there:

```json theme={null}
{
  "servers": {
    "every-help": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://every.help/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

**3. Save the configuration**

Save the file.

**Other tools**

Add a remote MCP server at `https://every.help/mcp`. It uses streamable HTTP and needs no authentication. Your tool's own docs say where to add it.

## Ask about Every

Name Every in your question, and ask for links to the pages the answer comes from. Each search result links to its page on the help center.

### Find out how

## Report a problem with a page

When a page is wrong, out of date or confusing, ask your AI tool to report it. The report goes to the team that writes the help center. It isn't a support request: for help with your company's account, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

The Every help center page on paying a vendor abroad doesn't match what I see. Report it to the docs team, with what's different: (describe what you see)

## Help center MCP and Every's MCP

Beta

Every's MCP is in closed beta. If you don’t see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

[Open](mailto:support@every.io)

Every's MCP reads your company's data in Every. It's a separate connection from the help center MCP.

| | Help center MCP | Every's MCP |
| - | - | - |
| What it reads | The help center's pages and API reference | Your company's data in Every, as your roles allow |
| Address | `https://every.help/mcp` | `https://api.every.io/api/mcp` |
| Who can use it | Anyone | People with AI chat access |

| Setup | This page | [MCP](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/overview.md), or [MCP for employees](https://every.help/employees/mcp.md) |

## Agent reference

**Where:** The help center's MCP server is at `https://every.help/mcp`. Each AI tool adds it as a remote MCP server. The Help center MCP page isn't in the help center's sidebar.

**Who:** Anyone. The help center MCP needs no Every account, sign-in or token.

### Facts

* The help center MCP at `https://every.help/mcp` is a remote MCP server over streamable HTTP, with no authentication. Its server name is Every Help Docs.
* The help center MCP has three tools: one searches the help center, one reads the help center's pages and the API reference, and one reports a problem with a page to the team that writes the help center.
* Each help center MCP search result links to its page on `https://every.help`.
* The help center MCP also offers Every's agent skills as resources: `every`, `every-banking`, `every-payments`, `every-accounting`, `every-benefits`, `every-ai` and `every-mcp`.
* The help center MCP reads only what the help center publishes, including the API reference. The help center MCP can't read a company's data in Every and can't change anything in Every.
* A report sent through the help center MCP goes to the team that writes the help center, for a page that is wrong, out of date, confusing or incomplete. A report isn't a support request: for help with a company's account, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* On Claude's Pro and Max plans, a person adds the help center MCP as a custom connector, in Claude on the web and in Claude Desktop: Customize → Connectors, "+ Add", "Add custom connector", a name and `https://every.help/mcp` as the server URL, "Continue", review the authentication settings, "Continue", then "No sign in" under "Authentication" and "Add".
* On Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner of the Claude organization adds the help center MCP as a custom connector in Organization settings → Connectors, then each member selects "Connect" on it in Customize → Connectors.
* Claude's Free plan allows 1 custom connector.
* In a Claude conversation, "+" in the chat box, then "Connectors", turns the help center MCP on or off for that conversation. Customize → Connectors removes the connector.
* ChatGPT adds the help center MCP on the web, from Plugins: the plus button, "Add custom MCP server", a name, `https://every.help/mcp` under "Connection", the server's authentication (the help center needs none), "I understand and want to continue", then "Create as a plugin". The ChatGPT plan and workspace settings decide whether a person can add a custom MCP server.
* In ChatGPT, after the plugin is installed, typing `@` in the chat box of a new conversation and selecting the help center MCP's plugin uses it for that message.
* Claude Code adds the help center MCP for all the person's projects with `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user every-help https://every.help/mcp`. `claude mcp get every-help` shows it as connected, and `claude mcp remove --scope user every-help` removes it.
* Cursor reads the help center MCP from an `every-help` entry with `"url": "https://every.help/mcp"` inside `mcpServers`, in `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for all projects or `.cursor/mcp.json` for one project.
* VS Code reads the help center MCP from an `every-help` entry with `"type": "http"` and `"url": "https://every.help/mcp"` inside `servers`. "MCP: Open User Configuration" in the Command Palette opens the user configuration file, and "MCP: Add Server" adds a server step by step.
* Every's MCP, at `https://api.every.io/api/mcp`, is in closed beta, and Every turns it on company by company. Every's MCP is a separate connection from the help center MCP: it reads a company's data in Every as the person's roles allow, needs a personal token and AI chat access, and is read only (see [MCP](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/overview.md) and [MCP for employees](https://every.help/employees/mcp.md)). To ask about access to Every's MCP, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

### Questions people ask

* **Do I need an Every account to use the help center MCP?** No. The help center MCP at `https://every.help/mcp` needs no Every account, sign-in or token.
* **Can the help center MCP see my company's balances or payroll?** No. The help center MCP reads only what the help center publishes. Every's MCP, in closed beta, reads company data with a personal token (see [MCP](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/overview.md)).
* **Can the help center MCP change anything in Every?** No. Apart from reporting a problem with a page, the help center MCP only searches and reads the help center.
* **How do I report a mistake on a help center page?** Ask an AI tool connected to the help center MCP to report the page, and say what's wrong. The report goes to the team that writes the help center. For help with a company's account, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) instead.
* **Is the help center MCP the same as Every's MCP?** No. The help center MCP reads the help center at `https://every.help/mcp`. Every's MCP, in closed beta, reads a company's data at `https://api.every.io/api/mcp` with a personal token.
