> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# MCP

> Connect your own MCP client to ask about your pay, benefits and time off in Every

Beta

MCP is in closed beta. If you don’t see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

[Open](mailto:support@every.io)

In **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**, connect your own MCP client to read your Every data. You need AI chat access.

## Create a token

**1. Open MCP**

From your profile menu, go to **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**.

**2. Open the token dialog**

Select **Create token**.

**3. Name the token**

Optional: In **Name**, enter a name you will recognize, such as your client and device.

**4. Choose when it expires**

In **Expiration**, choose **90 days**, **180 days** or **1 year**. The default is 90 days.

**5. Create the token**

Select **Create**.

**6. Copy the token**

In **Your MCP token**, copy the token. Every does not show it again after you close the dialog.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Your token gives MCP clients access to your Every data. Keep it private and revoke it if you lose it.

## Connect your client

1. Under **Connect a client**, open the menu that shows **Claude Code** and select **Claude Code**, **Claude Desktop**, **Cursor**, **Windsurf** or **Codex**.
2. Follow the instructions shown for your client. In **Your MCP token**, the configuration includes your new token. On the MCP page, replace this placeholder with the token you copied:

   ```text theme={null}
   <YOUR_TOKEN>
   ```

## Ask about your records

Your roles and the tools Every has turned on determine which questions your MCP client can answer. MCP reads data; it cannot change your records or submit time off requests.

Your pay rate

What is my current pay rate?

With the Employee role, you can also ask about your paystubs. The Contractor role alone does not include paystub access.

Your last paystub

What was my net pay on my last paystub?

Your benefits

Which benefits am I enrolled in?

Your time off balance

How much PTO do I have, and how much is left after my pending requests?

Plan time off

Show my upcoming company holidays and my time off balance forecast for the end of this year. State the assumptions behind the estimate.

Your request status

What is the approval status of my time off requests?

## Revoke a token

1. In **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**, under **Your tokens**, select **Revoke** beside the token.
2. In **Revoke this token?**, select **Revoke**. MCP clients using that token can no longer connect.

## Agent reference

**Who:** MCP is in closed beta. Employees and Contractors with AI chat access, at a company where Every has turned on MCP.

### Facts

* Personal MCP connections read data as the token's owner at the company where the token was created.
* Personal MCP tokens grant the tools the company has that the person's Every roles allow. A person cannot limit a personal token to selected tools.
* **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** offers **Create token**, **Your tokens** and **Connect a client**.
* The **Create MCP token** dialog on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** asks for **Name** and **Expiration**. The token name is optional. Expiration choices are **90 days**, **180 days** and **1 year**, with 90 days selected by default.
* A person can have 10 active MCP tokens per company. New MCP tokens expire within 365 days.
* The **Your MCP token** dialog on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** shows the raw token once and includes MCP client configuration with the new token.
* **Connect a client** on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** has a client menu set to **Claude Code** by default. The menu offers **Claude Code**, **Claude Desktop**, **Cursor**, **Windsurf** and **Codex**.
* **Connect a client** on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** shows a token placeholder in the client configuration for the person to replace with the copied token. The **Your MCP token** dialog includes the newly created token in the client configuration.
* The Employee and Contractor roles can read their own profile, compensation, benefits and time off through the MCP tools the company has.
* The Employee role can read the Employee's own most recent completed paystub through MCP. The Contractor role alone does not grant MCP paystub access.
* Personal MCP time off tools read the person's own balances and request statuses. Personal MCP company holidays are the holidays that apply to the person.
* A personal MCP time off forecast is an estimate from the current accrual rate and pay schedule.
* MCP cannot edit personal records, submit time off requests or make other changes.
* On **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**, selecting **Revoke** beside a token under **Your tokens**, then **Revoke** in **Revoke this token?**, revokes the token. MCP clients using a revoked token can no longer connect.
* A personal MCP token stops working when it expires or is revoked, or if its owner leaves the company or loses AI chat access.

### Questions people ask

* **Can I see my token again?** No. The **Your MCP token** dialog on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** shows the raw token when the token is created. Revoke a lost token and create a replacement.
* **Can I ask MCP to submit my time off?** No. MCP reads time off balances, forecasts, requests and holidays; MCP cannot submit a request.
* **Can I choose which data areas a personal token reaches?** No. A personal token uses the MCP tools the company has that the person's Every roles allow.
* **Can I read my paystub with only the Contractor role?** No. The Contractor role alone does not include MCP paystub access. With the Contractor role, you can read your own compensation through MCP.
