> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# Enroll in benefits

> Choose or waive your medical, dental and vision coverage and review the people and plans you selected

On **Home**, under **Things to do**, select **Enroll in health benefits** to choose your coverage. The form shows the coverage available to you, with a separate choice to enroll or waive for medical, dental and vision.

## Before you begin

**Enroll in health benefits** appears on **Home** once you've finished joining your company, when your company has coverage for you to choose, such as during open enrollment (The yearly window when employees can choose or change their benefits). While you join, choose your coverage in the Benefits step instead (see [Join your company](https://every.help/employees/join-your-company.md)).

## Choose your coverage

**1. Confirm your details**

On **Personal Details**, confirm **Sex** and **Marital status**, then continue.

**2. Choose who to cover**

For each type of coverage, select **Enroll in medical coverage** or the dental or vision option. Turn on the switch for each dependent you want covered. To add someone, select **Add another dependent**.

**3. Choose a plan**

Compare the available plans, including **You pay** and **Company pays**, and select a plan. Continue through the other coverage types shown.

**4. Review your choices**

At the **Review** step, the page is titled **Confirm & enroll**. Check your plans, covered people and costs.

**5. Sign documents when requested**

If **Legal** appears on **Review**, enter your full name for each document and select **I agree to electronically sign this document**.

**6. Add card delivery details when requested**

If **Card delivery** appears on **Review**, enter the address where you want your benefit card mailed.

**7. Confirm your choices**

Select **Confirm**. During onboarding, finish the remaining onboarding steps too.

## Waive coverage

**1. Waive the coverage**

Select **Waive medical coverage** or the dental or vision option.

**2. Give a reason**

Under **Choose reason why you waive**, select a reason. For **Other (please explain)**, enter it under **Please explain**.

**3. Finish your choices**

Continue through the remaining coverage choices and the **Review** step, including any **Legal** signatures requested. Then select **Confirm**. Waived coverage shows as **Declined coverage**.

The form warns that waiving means you won't be enrolled in the company's plan for that plan year. The warning says later enrollment requires a qualifying life event or the next open enrollment.

## Change a selection

You can change your choices until open enrollment closes. On **Home**, select **Edit your health benefit selection** to reopen a submitted choice.

## What happens next

After you confirm an open enrollment choice, the task on **Home** reads **Edit your health benefit selection**. Your plans and benefit cards are on **My profile** → **Benefits**. See [My profile](https://every.help/employees/my-profile.md) for changes after a life event.

## Agent reference

**Where:** **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during employee onboarding.

**Who:** Employees choosing their own health coverage. The Employee role can open **Home**, and the enrollment form shows the signed-in employee's own choices.

### Facts

* The **Enroll in health benefits** task on **Home** shows **Due now** and has **Dismiss**. The task does not appear while the employee's own onboarding is pending.
* The enrollment form opened from **Home** starts with **Personal Details**, including **Sex** and **Marital status**.
* The enrollment form opened from **Home** shows **Medical Coverage**, **Dental Coverage** and **Vision Coverage** for the available coverage types, with a plan-selection step for each type the employee enrolls in.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Things to do** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, each coverage form lets the employee enroll or waive. An employee who enrolls turns on switches for the dependents to include and can select **Add another dependent**. Each dependent's switch shows **Included** or **Excluded**.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, choosing to enroll includes the employee as a participant. An enrolling coverage form needs at least one participant before continuing.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, each plan-selection screen shows the available plans. Plan cards show **You pay** and **Company pays** monthly costs.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, waiving coverage asks for a reason under **Choose reason why you waive**. The **Other (please explain)** reason asks for text under **Please explain**.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, the coverage form warns before an employee waives that waiving means no enrollment in the company's plan for that plan year. The form's warning says later enrollment requires a qualifying life event or the next open enrollment.
* In health enrollment from **Home** → **Enroll in health benefits**, or the Benefits step during onboarding, the **Review** step is titled **Confirm & enroll**. **Review** shows each chosen plan, the employee's monthly cost and who it covers. Waived benefits show **Declined coverage**.
* On **Review** in health enrollment from **Home** or onboarding, **Legal** appears when plan documents need signatures. Enter the full name and select **I agree to electronically sign this document** for each document before selecting **Confirm**.
* On **Review** in health enrollment from **Home** or onboarding, **Card delivery** requests the address where a benefit card should be mailed when that form appears. Complete the address before selecting **Confirm**.
* On the Benefits step during onboarding, an employee choosing health coverage must also complete the remaining onboarding steps after confirming the benefit choices.
* Open enrollment choices can be edited until open enrollment closes. A submitted enrollment task on **Home** reads **Edit your health benefit selection**.
* **Enroll in health benefits** on **Home** opens enrollment in Every. A separate health task on **Home** that names an outside benefits provider uses that provider's enrollment instead.
