> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# AI chat

> Ask about your own pay, profile and time off in AI chat

Beta

AI chat is in closed beta. If you don’t see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

[Open](mailto:support@every.io)

On **Home**, use the **Every AI** button to ask about your own pay, profile and time off. You can use AI chat when Every has turned on access for your whole company.

## Ask a question

Select the round Every logo in the bottom-right corner (its tooltip reads **Every AI**) to open AI chat. You can also press ⌘J or Ctrl+J. Enter a question and press Enter. Press Shift+Enter for a new line.

Ask about your own paystub:

Find your last paystub

Show my last paystub

If your company tracks time off in Every, you can ask about your balance:

Find your remaining time off

How much time off do I have left?

Answers about your pay, profile and time off balance use your own records. To copy an answer, point at the answer and select the copy icon.

To contact a person, select **Talk to an expert** in a new AI chat conversation.

## Return to a conversation

On a computer, when **Chat** appears beside **Home** at the top of the sidebar, select it to see your past conversations under **Chats**. Select **New chat** to start another conversation.

## Agent reference

**Where:** The **Every AI** button is a round Every logo in the bottom-right corner of the page, including **Home**, and opens the AI chat panel. The **Every AI** button is hidden while the AI chat panel is open and on the full AI chat workspace. On a computer, select **Chat** beside **Home** in the sidebar to open the full AI chat workspace.

**Who:** AI chat is in closed beta. Employees can use it when Every has turned on AI chat for everyone at the company.

### Facts

* AI chat answers an employee's question about their own paystub from the employee's own records only. The Employee role alone permits answers about the employee's own pay, not other people's compensation.
* AI chat answers an employee's question about their own profile from the employee's own records only.
* AI chat answers an employee's time off balance question from the employee's own records only. The company needs to track time off in Every. When the employee has no time off policies, AI chat reports no time off policies on file.
* What AI chat can see and do depends on the employee's roles and on what Every has turned on for the selected company.
* Every turns on the full AI chat workspace separately from the AI chat panel. The **Home** and **Chat** switch appears in the desktop sidebar when the full AI chat workspace is available. The mobile sidebar does not show this switch.
* In Every, each employee sees only their own AI chat conversations, for the selected company.
* Outside the full AI chat workspace, ⌘J or Ctrl+J opens and closes the AI chat panel. In AI chat, Enter sends a question and Shift+Enter starts a new line.
* Buttons under an AI chat answer appear when the pointer is over the answer. The copy icon is named **Copy message** and copies the answer.
* In a new AI chat conversation, **Talk to an expert** closes the AI chat panel and opens support chat.
* On a computer, the full AI chat workspace sidebar lists an employee's past conversations under **Chats** and offers **New chat** to start another conversation.

### Questions people ask

* **Can I ask about my own paystub?** Yes. Employees with AI chat access can ask for their own last paystub when Every has turned on paystub answers for the company.
* **Can I ask about another employee's compensation?** No. The Employee role grants access to your own pay records. Company compensation answers are for Company Admins and HR Admins.
* **Why is my time off balance unavailable?** AI chat needs the company to track time off in Every and a time off policy on file for the employee. Every also needs to have turned on time off answers in AI chat for the company.

### Not covered here

* What can AI chat do for a particular company? To ask, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
* When does a missing paystub or time off policy become available? To ask, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
