> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# Sign in and recover access

> Sign in with a password or passkey, reset your password and get help when you lose your authenticator

![Authenticator sign-in form with six code slots, a recovery link and Continue.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/8n9uF_RorUlsZxU6/images/illustrations/employees-account-access-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=8n9uF_RorUlsZxU6\&q=85\&s=6735a85bd429292d8e40cebb2a389db1)

Sign in to Every with your email and password, or with a passkey. Reset a forgotten password from the sign-in screen, or email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) if you lose access to your authenticator.

## Before you begin

* You need an Every account. No company role is required to sign in.
* Have the email address you use for Every.
* Keep your authenticator app or password manager nearby. Every can ask for a 6-digit code from it when you sign in, as part of MFA (Multi-factor authentication: signing in with a second proof of who you are, such as a code, besides your password).

**1. Enter your email**

In **Email address**, enter your email and select **Continue**.

**2. Enter your password**

In **Password**, enter your password and select **Continue**.

**3. Enter your authenticator code**

If Every asks for an authenticator code, enter it on **Enter multi-factor authentication code** and select **Continue**.

To change the email, select the close button beside it on the password step.

## Sign in with a passkey

When your account has a passkey and your browser supports it, **Continue** on the email step starts passkey sign-in. Your browser then asks for your saved passkey. To use your password instead, select **Sign in with password**.

On the password step, **Sign in with Passkey** switches back. When you have a passkey and sign in with your password instead, Every emails you a 6-digit code. Enter the code on the **We sent you a code via email** screen.

## Set up an authenticator app

When you have no passkey and haven't set up an authenticator, Every shows **Enable multi-factor authentication** after your password.

**1. Add Every to your app**

Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or enter the setup code shown under it.

**2. Enter your authenticator code**

Enter the 6-digit code the app gives you.

**3. Finish setup**

Select **Continue**.

## Reset your password

**1. Start from sign-in**

On the sign-in screen, enter your email and select **Continue**.

**2. Open the reset page**

On the password step, select **Forgot password?**.

**3. Request a code**

In **Email address**, enter your account email and select **Send reset code**.

**4. Enter the code**

On the **Create new password** screen, enter the code from your email in **Verification code**.

**5. Enter a new password**

In **Enter password**, enter a new password. It needs at least 8 characters, with a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number and a symbol.

**6. Confirm the password**

In **Confirm the password**, enter the same password again.

**7. Save it**

Select **Confirm & Save**.

If you need another code, select **Resend code**. Every clears the **Verification code** field, so enter the new code.

## Recover access to your authenticator

If you lose access to your authenticator app, you can get help without signing in:

1. On the code prompt, under **Lost access to your MFA?**, select **See more**.
2. Select **Contact Support** to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

## What happens next

After you save a new password, Every shows **Password saved** and opens the sign-in screen a moment later. Sign in with your new password.

## Troubleshooting

### Every asks me to confirm my email

An unverified email opens the **Verification Code** screen, which shows the address the code went to. Enter the code in **Confirmation code**. To get a new one, select **Resend code**: earlier codes stop working. If you reach the attempt limit, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io) to confirm your account.

### My password is rejected on the reset screen

Check that it has at least 8 characters, with a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number and a symbol. The two password fields must also match.

### I don't see the passkey option

The passkey option appears when your account has one and your browser supports it. Sign in with your password instead.

### My account isn't linked to a company

Every shows "Your account isn't linked to a company any more. Ask an administrator at your company to restore your access, or contact [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io)." Ask an administrator at your company to restore your access, or email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

## Agent reference

**Where:** The Every sign-in screen, reached before you are signed in. Password reset starts from the password step of sign-in, and authenticator recovery starts from the code prompt.

**Who:** Anyone with an Every account, including employees. Sign-in and recovery need no special role and no existing session.

* Selecting the close button beside the email on the password step returns to the email step.
* The password reset page has an **Email address** field and a **Send reset code** action. Selecting it requests a reset for the account email.

* A password needs at least 8 characters, including a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number and a symbol. The two password fields must match.
* After a password reset is saved, Every shows **Password saved** and opens the sign-in screen a moment later. The **Password saved** screen also offers **Log in**.

* After the email step, **Continue** starts passkey sign-in when the account has a supported passkey. The browser then asks you to authenticate with the saved passkey.
