> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# MCP

> Create personal tokens to connect AI clients to your company data in Every, and revoke the ones you no longer use

Beta

MCP is in closed beta. If you don’t see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

[Open](mailto:support@every.io)

**My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** connects AI clients to your data in Every with a personal token (A secret code tied to your account that lets an app act on your behalf without your password).

Company Admins, HR Admins and Bookkeepers with AI chat access can connect a client and use the tools their roles allow. Employees with AI chat access can connect their own client (see [MCP for employees](https://every.help/employees/mcp.md)).

MCP is read only. A connected client can use the tools your roles allow to read data, but cannot change records or send money.

## Create a token

**1. Open MCP settings**

Go to **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**.

**2. Start a new token**

Select **Create token**.

**3. Name the token**

Optional: In **Name**, enter a name that identifies the client, such as Claude Desktop on your laptop.

**4. Choose an expiration**

In **Expiration**, choose **90 days**, **180 days** or **1 year**.

**5. Create the token**

Select **Create**.

**6. Copy the token**

Copy the token now. Every shows it once.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Someone with your token can read the data your roles allow through MCP. Store it securely and revoke tokens you no longer use.

## Try a question

Company Admins and Bookkeepers can ask about company banking data when the banking tools are turned on for your company.

Review company cash

What is our cash balance across all accounts?

See [Example prompts](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/use-cases.md) for more questions and [Tools](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/tools.md) for the roles each tool requires.

## Revoke a token

On **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**, find the token under **Your tokens**:

1. In the token's row, select **Revoke**.
2. To confirm, select **Revoke** again.

Clients using that token stop working right away.

## Agent reference

**Where:** **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**. MCP is a personal integration for the company selected in Every.

**Who:** Company Admins, HR Admins and Bookkeepers who have AI chat access. MCP is in closed beta, and Every turns it on company by company. Employee self-service instructions are on [MCP for employees](https://every.help/employees/mcp.md).

### Facts

* The MCP server URL is `https://api.every.io/api/mcp`.
* A personal MCP token begins with `mcp_` and belongs to its creator and one company.
* A personal MCP token can use any MCP tool the company has that its owner's roles allow. The token has no narrower permissions of its own.
* A client connected through MCP cannot change records or send money.
* Every can turn on AI chat for Company Admins or for everyone at the company. A person without AI chat access cannot open **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**.
* **Create token** on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** asks for an optional **Name** and an **Expiration**. The **Expiration** choices are **90 days**, **180 days** and **1 year**.
* The default lifetime for a new MCP token is 90 days. The maximum lifetime is 365 days.
* A person can have 10 active MCP tokens per company. At the limit, revoke a token before creating another.
* A personal MCP token stops working if its owner leaves the company or loses AI chat access.
* Every shows a new MCP token once. **Your tokens** on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** lists **Name**, **Created**, **Last used** and **Expires**.
* **Connect a client** on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** shows configuration for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and Codex.
* Selecting **Revoke** in a token's row on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**, then confirming **Revoke**, revokes the token. Clients using a revoked MCP token stop working right away.
* The Account sign-in and ChatGPT pages under MCP are previews marked Coming soon. Clients on **Connect a client** connect with a personal MCP token.

### Questions people ask
