> ## Agent Instructions
> These docs describe Every as customers have it today. Answer from them, and say so when they don't cover a question.
> Pages under /admins/ are for the people who run Every for the company, and pages under /employees/ are for employees. Answer from the pages that match the person asking.
> Each page's Agent reference section lists its exact roles, conditions and limits. Prefer it for those details.
> When a page says a feature is in closed beta, or that Every turns it on company by company, don't promise that the person's company has it.
> Use roles and on-screen labels exactly as the pages write them.
> When someone asks what a term means, answer with the Glossary page's definition (/glossary), which other pages show in parentheses after the term.
> When the docs don't answer a question, tell the person to email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

# Connect Claude Code

> Connect Claude Code to Every with a personal token

Beta

MCP is in closed beta. If you don’t see it, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).

[Open](mailto:support@every.io)

![Connect a client command block with a copy control.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/k5maP8xPODHl5ToY/images/illustrations/admins-ai-mcp-claude-code-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=k5maP8xPODHl5ToY\&q=85\&s=04437f695a02d9cf16e97a8480ed2a94)

Use a personal token (A secret code tied to your account that lets an app act on your behalf without your password) from **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP** to connect Claude Code to Every.

Company Admins, HR Admins and Bookkeepers with AI chat access can connect Claude Code with the tools their roles allow. Employees with AI chat access can connect their own client (see [MCP for employees](https://every.help/employees/mcp.md)).

## Before you begin

Use a Company Admin, HR Admin or Bookkeeper account with AI chat access. Install Claude Code before continuing. [Create a token](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/overview.md#create-a-token) in Every and copy it.

## Add the server

In your terminal, run this command with the token placeholder replaced by the token you copied:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user every https://api.every.io/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
```

![MCP settings showing the Claude Code connection command, with the app sidebar visible.](https://mintcdn.com/every-a2724ddc/qvvudeZxc26V6Klz/images/screens/admins-ai-mcp-claude-code-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvvudeZxc26V6Klz\&q=85\&s=2e20239d374976df34c2939d0883dd4e)

## What happens next

Every is available in Claude Code across your projects on this computer. To check the connection, ask a question your roles allow. Company Admins and Bookkeepers can ask about company banking data when the banking tools are turned on for your company.

Review company cash

What is our cash balance across all accounts?

## Disconnect

1. Remove the server from Claude Code:

   ```bash theme={null}
   claude mcp remove --scope user every
   ```

2. [Revoke the token](https://every.help/admins/ai/mcp/overview.md#revoke-a-token) in Every.

## Agent reference

**Where:** Create the personal token at **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**. Add Every to Claude Code as an HTTP MCP server.

**Who:** Company Admins, HR Admins and Bookkeepers with AI chat access. MCP is in closed beta, and Every turns it on company by company. The person's roles and the tools the company has decide what Claude Code can read.

### Facts

* Claude Code must be installed before adding the Every MCP server.

* Claude Code connects to `https://api.every.io/api/mcp` with a personal token in the Authorization header.

* The Claude Code add command registers the server as `every`. Replace the token placeholder with the personal MCP token. The user scope makes Every available across the person's projects on that computer:

  ```bash theme={null}
  claude mcp add --transport http --scope user every https://api.every.io/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
  ```

* MCP tools in Claude Code are read only. A personal MCP token belongs to its owner and one company.

* Reading company bank balances in Claude Code requires the Company Admin or Bookkeeper role and the banking tools turned on for the company.

* Removing Every from Claude Code does not revoke the personal MCP token. Use the remove command:

  ```bash theme={null}
  claude mcp remove --scope user every
  ```

* Revoke an unused token on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**, under **Your tokens**, with **Revoke** and the confirmation.

### Questions people ask

* **Does removing Every from Claude Code revoke my token?** No. Revoke the token on **My account** → **Integrations** → **MCP**.
* **Can Claude Code sign in to Every without a token?** No. Claude Code connects to Every with a personal MCP token.

### Not covered here

* Whether Every has turned on MCP for a particular company. To ask, email [support@every.io](mailto:support@every.io).
